Frequently Asked Questions

Online Business Manager Support (UK)

What does an Online Business Manager do?

An Online Business Manager (OBM) provides remote operational and strategic support managing the systems, processes and back-end operations that keep a business running properly.

As a UK-based OBM working exclusively with hair, beauty, aesthetic and wellness businesses, I take ownership of the operational side of your business. That includes CRM and booking system management, email marketing, team and HR support, workflow and process building, and ongoing business oversight so you can focus on leading your business, serving your clients and planning your next move.

The difference between a VA and an OBM is simple: a VA does tasks. An OBM manages the business behind the tasks

FAQ's

How can an Online Business Manager support my salon or beauty business?

Working with an OBM means someone is actively managing the operations behind your business, not just completing tasks, but making sure the right systems, processes and structures are in place so everything runs properly.

For hair, beauty, aesthetic and wellness businesses, this typically means:

  • Sorting your CRM or booking system so clients stop falling through the gaps

  • Building email marketing that keeps your books full

  • Streamlining your team operations and HR processes

  • Managing the back end so you can focus on your clients and your growth

Most clients come to me when their business has grown but the systems haven't kept up and everything starts to feel harder than it should.

What's the difference between a VA and an OBM?

A Virtual Assistant handles day-to-day tasks inbox management, diary support, admin upkeep. It's reactive, task-based support.

An Online Business Manager operates at a higher level. I look at how your business actually runs, identify what's not working, and manage the operations, systems and processes that keep everything moving. It's proactive, strategic and built around your business goals.

If you're not sure which level of support you need, we'll work that out on your discovery call.

How do I know if I'm ready for OBM support?

You're likely ready if:

  • Your business is growing but your systems and processes haven't kept up

  • You're spending time firefighting instead of leading

  • Your team needs clearer structure and support

  • Your CRM, booking system or email marketing isn't doing what it should

  • You know what you want to achieve but don't have the time or headspace to make it happen

You don't need to have it all figured out before you reach out. That's what the discovery call is for.

How does pricing work?

I work on a monthly retainer, a set number of hours dedicated entirely to your business each month. This means I get to know your business properly, understand your busy seasons, and manage everything with that context in mind.

Retainers are proactive, not reactive. I'm looking ahead, not just waiting to be told what to do. Packages start from 10 hours per month at £40 per hour, with options up to 40+ hours for full operational support.
Is there a minimum commitment?

Minimum terms vary by package and are discussed clearly during your discovery call, no surprises. Most clients find that once the first month is in place, they wouldn't go back.

Will I lose control of my business?

The opposite, usually. You stay fully in charge, I work as a trusted extension of your business, following your priorities, preferences and vision. Nothing is done without your agreement.

Most clients find they gain more clarity and control because everything becomes documented, systemised and managed properly for the first time.

Are you UK-based?

Yes,  I'm based in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, working with hair, beauty, aesthetic and wellness businesses across the UK. That means aligned working hours, clear communication and someone who understands the reality of running a UK salon or beauty business.

How do we communicate?

Communication is built around what works for you. Most clients use a combination of email, scheduled check-ins and a shared project management tool. We agree on the setup during onboarding so there's no ambiguity about how we work together.
